Local law enforcement agencies pressured a steroids dealer to build cases against two police officers and a Paw Paw businessman suspected of buying the substances illegally, according to documents obtained by the Kalamazoo Gazette.

The federal inquiry also has led to the questioning of Portland Sgt. Charles Brown, who lives in Canby and whose late father was a retired Canby school superintendent. Portland police have been ordered not to talk about the federal investigation involving Brown.

When the emergency medical crew arrived at apartment 11D in the Fort Shelby Tower just before sunrise on March 11, the man in the white pants who let them in led them to a young, dark-haired woman in distress. She was disoriented and her face was bloody. The male companion told the crew that she may have overdosed on anxiety medication, court records say.
